Due to the extreme weather conditions, we’re moving all Winter Welcome outdoor events to the next week, same day, same time.
Here are the list of events with new dates:

Timings and all other details related to the above mentioned events will remain the same. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Students can still enjoy all the indoor fun throughout the week including FREE FOOD each day. Check out the schedule below and head to the Facebook event for more info and updates.
DAY 1 – Jan 15th
URSU Cares Breakfast
9am – 10am, The Owl
Sometimes being a student means being too busy to make breakfast or being too broke to pack one. As part of our URSU Cares program, we give students the chance to fill their bellies before shuffling off to class. We do the cooking and they come looking….for a feast of fabulous free food! The URSU Breakfast Club is a great time to meet other students and also talk with the Executive Committee of your Students’ Union.
Snow Golf moved to January 22nd
12pm – 4pm, Academic Green
Sledding – Moved to January 22nd
4pm – 6pm, Douglas Park
Toboggan or not toboggan? That’s not even a question! Of course we’ll be speeding down the hill at Douglas Park during Winter Welcome! This event is great for students wanting to rediscover the fun of sledding and it’s a chance for those new to our campus to try out one of Canada’s favourite winter activities. We’ll have plenty of hot chocolate on hand to keep sledders warm, toasty, and smiling. A bus will be provided to and from Douglas Park so meet in the Riddell Centre at 3:30pm.
Warm Up with Veggie Chili
5:30pm – 6:30pm, The Owl
Free for students, non-students by donation.
Movie Night sponsored by UR International
7pm, Riddell Centre Multi Purpose Room
We end the first night of Winter Welcome with a movie featuring a fan favourite frigid flick for students to curl up with! Movie Night is the perfect time to chill out, hang with friends, and make plans for the rest of the exciting week! All ages welcome!
Dollar Draft
9pm, The Owl
School can be expensive but having a good time shouldn’t be. That’s why we give students the chance to have a lot of fun for not a lot of funds with Dollar Draft! Event is 19+ so please bring Government issued photo ID.
DAY 2 – Jan 16th
Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Lunch
1pm – 2pm, Riddell Centre Multi Purpose Room
Cold weather and comfort food go together like, well, grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup! We’ll be serving a little ooey-gooey goodness and giving students something to smile about as they begin the semester! Free for students, non-students by donation.

Indoor Games
12pm – 3:30pm, Riddell Centre Multi Purpose Room.
Sometimes the thought of going back to class can send students searching for something to distract themselves so we give them just that! Our Indoor Games allow students to forget about the circus that can be school by letting them enjoy different activities in the Riddell Centre Multi Purpose Room.
Skate Night – moved to January 23rd
6:30pm – 8:30pm, Victoria Park
The lights of downtown Regina will provide the backdrop for an enjoyable evening of skating, socializing and sipping a little hot chocolate. We’ll be taking a bunch of students to the Victoria Park skating rink and letting them loose on the ice! Be part of a night filled with a lot of laughs, a few slips, and a rink full of smiles. Make sure you’re in the Riddell Centre at 6pm to take Regina Transit to the rink.
Trivia Night
8pm, The Owl
Teams will be showing off their smarts at the first Trivia Night of the year during the Winter Welcome. Trivia night is consistently the most popular event at the Owl, regularly drawing 400 to 500! Event is 19+ so please bring Government issued photo ID.
DAY 3 – Jan 17th
Club Fair
11am – 3pm, RIC Atrium
Our student clubs are a big part of what makes our campus community come alive and the Club Fair is the best time to find them all in one place! Connect with members of the various URSU clubs and societies and engage with club members face to face at an exciting and informal event designed to show everyone what’s happening on our campus.
Movie Marathon
11am – 9pm, The Owl
Chill out and enjoy some frosty flicks at The Owl! We’ll be playing four movies throughout the day so you can join us whenever to catch a wintery movie or two!
Ukrainian Lunch
11am (while supplies last), The Owl
If you thought Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup were tasty, just wait until you try the Polish Sausage and Perogies platter we’ll be serving up at The Owl! You can’t beat classic comfort food so we’re serving students a big helping of “OMG that’s delicious!” to take their mind off their studies for a bit. For students new to Saskatchewan it’s a chance to try something new and for other students it’s a taste of home, away from home. Students with an Owl M.O.R.E. card can enjoy the feast for just $5 and community members will be able to partake for $9!
Bonfire – moved to January 24th
5pm, Beach Volleyball Courts
A roaring fire, good friends, and the sun setting on an awesome Winter Welcome, what more could you want? How about S’mores and Hot Chocolate? We wind down Winter Welcome with a good old bonfire so students can gather and gab about the good times while enjoying that campfire treat that can’t be beat! Make sure to bundle up to stay warm!
Frost Night
9pm, The Owl
We’ll be heating up the dance floor on Frost Night so head to The Owl for the cool culmination of another wonderful Winter Welcome! There’ll be beats you won’t believe and music to make you move and there’s NO COVER so it’s free to get it going at Frost Night! Event is 19+ so please bring Government issued photo ID.
