FAQs
You can pay at the URSU Member Services Desk with cash, debit, Visa, or MasterCard
No. You need to clean out your locker and return your lock for the $5 deposit by the locker clean-out deadline. You can go to ursu.ca or come to the Member Services Desk to rent again in September.
Why? Because demand for lockers exceeds the number of lockers we have, we want to ensure that a fair first-come-first-served basis is in place. If students were able to carry-over their rental, not everyone would have an equal chance of renting a locker once locker rentals open in the fall. New students arriving at the beginning of September would have an especially difficult time, as most lockers would be sold by then. We also often need to complete maintenance and the break between Spring/Summer and Fall presents a good opportunity to do so.

The locker service price was raised in order to cover the labour costs associated with cleaning the lockers and coordinating the locker rental process. In addition, if URSU is able to profit from the locker program, we will be able to purchase additional lockers and improve our ability to offer student funding and other services.
You can rent a locker at the beginning of the fall semester and throughout the year as quantities last. You can choose to rent a locker for the fall semester only or for multiple semesters.
You can stop by the Member Services Desk.
For those looking to rent accessible lockers, or have special needs for a locker in a specific location, please visit the Member Services Desk and inform the staff of your request.

lease call at 306-586-8811 ext. 201 us or send us an email at member.services@ursu.ca and we will look up your combination for you.
After the clean-out deadline, we donate all locker contents to the Diabetes Association and the Better World Book program. Several emails reminders are sent out prior to the deadline and we call students if their email bounces back. We also put up posters with the deadline information by each section of lockers.
If you brought your lock back on time, we would give you the $5 because we could be sure that we would not need to replace your lock. In addition, the costs of hiring staff would decrease, because we would not have to spend time taking the lock off your locker. Once the deadline has passed, we have already hired staff and ordered new locks to replace those that weren’t turned in on time and cannot afford to continue giving back deposits.
Yes, but to receive your $5 deposit back, you must return the lock we provided. If your lock is still on your locker after the last day of the semester for which you rented your locker, we will need to cut it off.
Starting in 2009, the Students’ Union at the University of Regina took over the responsibility of governing the use and maintenance of the lockers on the University of Regina campus. Why have a new rental program? The following were the primary reasons for this new program:
Lockers were in need of repair.
This program was designed to generate the capital to help replace and repair damaged lockers.
There are not enough lockers on campus.
Funds are required to increase locker availability. Currently there are only 1,231 lockers for nearly 14,000 students. The URSU program is aimed at helping increase the number of lockers on campus so that more students can have access to one.
There needed to be a system of accountability.
The URSU locker program helps to stop students from damaging the lockers, leading to costly repairs.
For insurance and risk management purposes.
The University of Regina has the responsibility to know who is accessing its space. Should a problem arise that involves a locker, we’ll have the ability to contact the renter and deal with the situation without having to cut locks and destroy property.
Abuse of the “free” system needed to be stopped.
The old “Every man for themselves” approach to lockers led to students claiming multiple lockers, students renting out lockers to other students, and also prevented students needing specially designed lockers for those with disabilities from having access to them. This new system will help distribute lockers to as many students as possible, as well as help make reserved lockers available to students who actually need them.
Accessible lockers needed to be kept available to those who need them.
Previously, nothing prevented students from taking lockers that are specially designed for wheelchair access from being taken. With the new URSU locker system, these lockers have be marked and reserved so that students that need them will have the chance to use them.
If you have further questions regarding the locker program, please send us an email or call our Member Services Desk and we’ll be glad to help you.
