What does your week usually involve in regards to work?
Helping students navigate through the process of creating/managing U or R student-led groups, clubs, and societies.
Are you a student? If so, what year of study and what field?
Last year of Business Administration
How will this job help you in that field in the future and right now?
I have had the opportunity to learn a lot of new skills and be exposed to varied approaches to business, things you can’t really learn in a classroom setting.
What do you like the most about your job?
I really enjoy the social aspect of my job. I like constantly meeting and connecting with other staff, volunteers, faculty leaders, club leaders, etc. The diversity and varying scope of events and meetings make every day exciting.
What do you like most about working at URSU?
My coworkers. Everyone here is dedicated to URSU’s mission to provide students with high-quality supports, services, and opportunities. URSU’s positive work environment helps us all do the best we can for students.
What are the biggest challenges or obstacles?
COVID-19
How does your work benefit the students of the University of Regina and its Federated Colleges? How does it benefit the community?
Working as the Campus Life Coordinator at URSU provides the opportunity to give back to the student community through helping facilitate fun events, volunteer opportunities, and other acts of service. This adds immense value to the learning experience here at the U of R.
What have you learned during your time working with URSU?
I learned to have a bias for action. It is often better to have that “getting things done” attitude and solve problems yourself as they come up.
