Seeing friends face-to-face and attending events in person seems like a distant memory so for URSU Welcome Week 2021 presented by SaskTel we’re offering a blast from the past! Get ready to connect with your campus and recharge your social batteries. We know students are excited and anxious about returning to campus so we will have both online and IRL events happening! Welcome Week is the time of the year we introduce students to a new semester, often a new school, and sometimes a new city. For many students, it will be their first taste of campus life but they also get to know what the city of Regina and its commendable community have to offer.
With the spirit of cautiously connecting, we are inviting Students Clubs, Community Organizations, and Local Businesses to join us on the Green. Find out about the good work these great groups do and the ways you can get involved at the Club Fair and Carnival starting at 12 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 8th. We will have games, giveaways, and more set up outside on the University of Regina main campus.
There’s a whole crop of “come-check-it-out” excitement on the Green but we’ll also be thinking green. On Thursday, Sept. 9th, at 5 pm, we’ll be holding the first of our Sustainability Town Hall online so join us to save the world! The Outdoor Movie Night is back with a double feature as we share the familiar, familial funniness that is Uncle Buck and the Rom-Com to top all Rom-Coms: Pretty Woman! You can also flex your mental muscles and engage in the factual fracas that is Trivia Night! Both take place Thursday starting at 7 pm.
There’s so much going on during Welcome Week that we had to enlist the University of Regina Rams Football Club to help out with some of our events! Swing by the Pancake Breakfast and Lil’ Olympics on Friday, September 10th to say “Hike!” um we mean “Hi!” to the green and gold gladiators. That same day starting at 12 pm you can enjoy the first Sexual Health Friday presented by UR Pride, ta-tawâw Student Centre, Planned Parenthood Regina & URSU Sexual Health Outreach. Sexual Health Friday is part panel discussion, part Q&A, part sexual health clinic, and all kinds of entertaining and informative. Be part of the helpful, health-oriented happening by joining on Zoom or in person, on campus.
Oh and don’t forget that along with a truckload of fabulous food trucks, you’ll also be able to indulge your sweet tooth with ice cream from headline sponsors SaskTel!
