URSU congratulates Dr. Vianne Timmons on her appointment as the incoming President and Vice-Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Over the years, Dr. Timmons has been a familiar and welcoming face to students on our campus and members of the community. Under her leadership, the University of Regina has experienced eleven consecutive years of increased enrolment, which includes more than 16,500 enrolled in classes this fall – a record-breaking amount. Dr. Timmons has also been a staunch advocate for equitable education and the University of Regina has made significant progress in this area during her tenure.
As Dr. Timmons departs for Memorial University of Newfoundland, she leaves our beloved institution a better place than she found it when she became the 7th President of the University of Regina in 2008. URSU thanks Dr. Timmons for being a steadfast ally throughout her tenure and for embodying the University’s motto “As one who serves.”
Much work remains to be done to ensure that, in the words of Dr. Timmons, “our University is representative, not of the world we live in today, but of the world we want to live in.” Our university is about to embark on an exciting new journey. This has been made possible because of the earnest dedicated leadership of Dr. Timmons.
All of us at URSU thank her for years of service and wish her continued success in the future.
Sincerely,
Victor Oriola
URSU President
