Dear fellow students,
Hope you all are well and finding some time for yourselves around this final season.
This past year has been very difficult for all of us whether it was due to the absence of social support from our peers or due to limited job opportunities that impacted most of the students financially. However, URSU has had your back from the beginning of the pandemic as our advocacy, operations, and services continue to provide all students a fulfilling university experience.
Today, it is with immense pleasure that I announce the launch of two new financial measures by your students’ union to uplift the financial situation of our students. These new supports are separate from the ongoing Emergency Bursary Fund as follows:
- Covid Relief Fund for the students impacted by Covid-19
- Grant for the students with disabilities
More information on both the financial aids and the forms to apply could be found below:
I would like to also inform you all that the Executive Committee is going to put forth the initial budget 2021-2022 on the Board of Directors agenda for approval in the next board meeting that includes no increase in your Students’ Union fee for the next year. Furthermore, the Executives are committed to looking for more effective ways to maintain the URSU fee at the same level for future years.
As I always say, the times are tough at this moment but a bright future is always awaiting us all. URSU will continue to support you all with utmost hard work during your university experience. Please stay safe and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Take care and all the best with your finals!
Sincerely,
Gurjinder Singh Lehal
President, University of Regina Students’ Union
