What does your week usually involve in regards to work?
Lots of planning! My week mainly involves looking into new and exciting possible events to plan for the student body to enjoy and how to execute those events to the best of my ability for a successful Welcome Week.
Are you a student? If so, what year of study and what field?
Yes, I am going into my third year as a Psychology major.
How will this job help you in that field in the future and right now?
This job is great practice for connecting and communicating with people, which is very important as a psychology major and as someone who wants to pursue a career in the medical field.
What do you like the most about your job?
There’s always something new for me to learn and new opportunities for me to explore. Each day I have the opportunity to improve myself and expand my body of knowledge through my work.
What do you like most about working at URSU?
The amazing team of individuals I get to work with on a daily basis who are always so welcoming and supportive.
What are the biggest challenges or obstacles?
Planning a Welcome Week that will be enjoyed by all and making sure that no matter what a student’s interests are, that there will be something for everyone to participate in.
How does your work benefit the students of the University of Regina and its Federated Colleges? How does it benefit the community?
Welcome Week is meant to give students a chance to connect with new people and relieve some of the stress of returning to school or being a first time University student. This week also gives students a chance to get acquainted with the University and some of what the University has to offer, while also having fun!
What have you learned during your time working with URSU?
During my time with URSU, I have learned that it is ok to ask for help and seek support from others.
