My fellow students,
All of us at the University of Regina Students’ Union (URSU) hope you’re well and keeping safe. Finals are fast approaching and we wanted to give you a quick update on the state of affairs at your students’ union.
Due to the public health crisis, URSU will be unable to offer a Spring-Summer U-Pass for the Spring/Summer 2020 semester. However, URSU has negotiated a 2021 start date for the Spring/Summer U-Pass. While we do not yet know how transit services will operate during the Spring/Summer semester, URSU is still researching alternatives to ensure that students have affordable access to public transit if required. URSU wishes to thank its partners in Regina Transit and the City of Regina for accomodating the needs of students in these unprecedented times.
URSU wishes to assure the membership that we have and will continue to work arduously to represent your interests and our ability to provide support for our students remains unchanged. The URSU Cares Pantry has continued to operate and will continue to operate as scheduled for the rest of the semester. URSU has temporarily suspended the pantry sign-up fee and all students are now able to access the pantry until further notice. Students in need of financial assistance are encouraged to reach out to the URSU Advocate at advocate@ursu.ca to assess which supports they might be able to access. Our Member Services desk is still open and happy to answer any questions that we can for you. You can email us any time at member.services@uregina.ca.
In recognition that these are stressful times, URSU would like to highlight that myWellness is a free mental health resource available to the membership at all hours of the day. The university’s counselling services are also available to you remotely through the university website. All the best for the rest of the semester. Stay safe and be kind!
Kind regards,
Victor Oriola
URSU President
Thanks
