Welcome Week Presented by SaskTel is DOOOONE so get ready for your new semester and all the headaches that can bring! Just kidding (well only a little) but we hope everyone met new people, had a heckuva time, and made enough memories of good times to get them through the slow times. We’re proud to have given students the chance to start the school year off right by joining their fellow students for three days packed with entertainment and excitement!
On Wednesday, we have had the annual Welcome Fest free concert in the middle of campus on the Academic Green starting at 5pm. Our co-headliners for the event were Life of Kai and Flatland Funk, one of the hardest working rising stars in Canada. To amp up the electric vibe we also had our Glow Party on the Green during the concert and invited everyone to dress as bright as possible so we can really light up the night!
This time of year is about getting to know your fellow students but also the different student clubs and societies that are sponsored by us at the Students’ Union. We had our Garden Games on the Green on Wednesday, which was run by our Student Societies. Students challenged themselves with the climbing wall, bounced around with the Euro Bungee, or made their shot count at mini golf.
Then on Thursday, our variety of Student Clubs, which are less formal groups based around different hobbies or interests, were at our Club Fair in the RIC Atrium. Later that same day, High Impact Wrestling took centre stage on the Academic Green with the WW Slamfest starting at 3pm.
On Friday, we held our Outdoor Movie Night and BBQ on the Green so students could enjoy a free show along with refreshments, with the movie beginning at dusk. The night was capped off with the running of the Nite Owl 5k and the Culture Affix After Party at The Owl, one of three after-parties put on during the week!
We hope everyone got to explore our campus, connect with new people, and have an experience they will remember long after they graduate!
