Used Bookstore
At the beginning of the Fall & Winter semesters (Sept. & Jan.) the Students' Union runs a Used Bookstore. We don't buy used books - Instead, you set the price and we sell your books on consignment. This way, students can buy books at a fraction of the cost of other used books and students can also get money back from books they don't need anymore. 15% of the selling price of all sold books goes to the Students' Union to help run the Used Bookstore.
How to Put Your Used Texts in the Sale (Consigning)
First, gather the books you want to sell and research the prices. If you know how much you want to sell your books for beforehand, it will make the process a lot faster! We don't have a pricing chart for books so it's up to you as to how much you want to sell your books for.
Next, bring your books to the Bookstore. If the sale hasn't started yet, bring it to the Students' Union front desk. Our staff will take your information down and record each book and the price you set for them. Don't forget to bring your Student ID Card.
Finally, keep your receipt! After consigning your books, you'll get a printout that lists your books, their book number, and the price you set for them. If you lose this, we won't be able to give you your cheque or your books back.
Cheques and Unsold Books (Gettin' Paid)
Your receipt will tell you on what date we plan to have all cheques printed and ready for students to pick up. All books and cheques will be at the Students' Union front desk. Bring your receipt and your Student ID and show them to the front desk staff. If your books sold, you'll get a cheque and if anything didn't sell, you'll get your unsold books back.
If you lost your receipt, you will have to wait until then end of the Pick-up period to get your cheque and books.
Any books that are not picked up by the end of the Pick-up period will be donated to a book charity.
