URSU V-Team
What the V-Team is all about:
The University of Regina Students' Union provides services and hosts events for its members, both academic and non-academic in nature. These services and events often require the help of many people to ensure their success. URSU feels it is vital that this aid come from its members, offering relevant and exciting experiences for those wishing to volunteer.
The purpose of the University of Regina Students' Union Volunteer Team is to facilitate and operate volunteer opportunities within the Students' Union and on campus for URSU members.
Types of volunteering:
The volunteer opportunities offered by the Students' Union vary depending on the event and activity. Past examples have included volunteering as general Welcome Week contributors, concert events, rallies, guest speakers, information tables, going on "Bar Blitzes" for charity, participating in fundraisers, putting up posters, selling or giving away food at BBQ's and events, helping out around the Students' Union office, and much more!
Awesome benefits:
In appreciation of the positive mentality and hours that volunteers give to the Students' Union, URSU offers several benefits for volunteers. After ten hours of volunteering in a semester, URSU provides volunteers with a volunteering certificate and reference letter for their time, as well as a spot on any resume. In addition, "V-Team-ers" receive a free T-shirt to wear while volunteering, and are given free access to the events they volunteer for. As well, there are rewards for each event; BBQ's, appreciation nights, free movie passes, gift certificates, URSU items, etc.
Not to mention...
Volunteering is one of the best ways to meet people who are interested in similar activities, and is always an opportunity to have a great time. It is an excellent avenue to explore the important role that a student governing body has, and what kind of work students can really get done, with noticeable and rewarding results.
